Ana on the topic of BJJ in general
I haven't written in a while, partially because I didn't have the time but mostly because I didn't have a topic to write about. However, for a couple of days I have been wanting to write a certain article and finally today I found the time to do so. I would like to write about Katja Schulze and Susanne Skrobak, two friends of mine but above all, two clear examples of BJJ dedication, personal development and growth and how hard work gets paid off.

Ana on the topic of BJJ competitions
Hey people, there are in the next months 3 events that I particularly would like to recommend you:
-
1st German NoGi Championship
-
BJJ Camp in Hungary
-
BJJ Camp, only for girls, in Amsterdam (Holland)
I know personally the organizators of these three events, have trained with them and participated in previous events organized by them, so I know what I am talking about if I tell you that they are great things to do, if you want to have an amazing BJJ summer!

Hi people,
as many of you may know, Samuel Sanvicente and I are opening a full-time BJJ school in Hamburg. The first full-time BJJ school with training units in the morning, afternoon and evening. 6 days at week!
For our big proyect, we have had already the support and help from many people, but still we need more help. For that purpose, we create the proyect Adopt a Mat
http://www.graciebarrahamburg.de/adopt-a-mat/
So if you have some euros, pounds or dollars and you are willing to contribute to our school, please donate!!
By donating you are not only helping us, but also the children in Japan (please read the Adopt a Mat Link for more info) and you can win an Estilo Gi sponsored by GiDirekt
Thanks in advance!

"Jiu Jitsu Style" is the new BJJ magazine on the market for all BJJ lovers!
It is edited in the UK and intends to cover all relevant topics of BJJ, but focusing mainly on BJJ in the old continent... yes.. here in Europe! It seems promising! Finally a magazine that writes about what is going on here and not only oversee in the USA and/or Brasil ;)
The magazine will be published every two months. The issue February/March is now for sale!
You can order it in www.gidirekt.de. For more info about prices and delivery, please click on "read more"

Some time ago I read in a blog that many people would like to see a translation of A musa do jiu-jítsu, an article which was published in Portuguese only.
So here you can find an unofficial translation, made by me, so please forgive whatever mistakes you can find.
Hope you enjoy it!

That is the question
Many people say that the goal and essence of BJJ, and of any other martial art for the matters, is to submit your opponent. It makes sense, doesn't it? After all, martial arts were always developed for self-defense and no enemy would stop attacking you after 5 minutes because you got your knee on his stomach. Personally I completely agree with that, but truth is that every sport needs rules when it becomes a competition sport.
