Some things I am sure you did not know

I attended yesterday an awesome seminar, actually it was a referee workshop, given by Nick Brook, a black belt from Roger Gracie and official IBJJ referee. All the people who attended the seminar where of course BJJ fighters, some of them still at early stage (white belts) and some others with pretty much a long way behind them like Douglas (brown belt, Kennpokan BJJ trainer). But I would say that all of us were active competitors which have been in numerous tournaments, small or big events, and who think to know the rules of this sport. Well, our mouth dropped opened a couple of times during the 5 hours long seminar after hearing what in fact the rules say and how bad prepared are most of the referees that work in small competitions without having attended a single course in their life.
